Dr. K. Shivachithappa has an M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Economics, with a specialization in “Economic Empowerment of Weaker Sections Through Commercial Banks Credit – With Special Reference to Mandya District.” He has 23 years of teaching experience at the postgraduate level and 11 years of research experience. He has also served as a Coordinator at the Directorate of Research, University of Mysore, and as a Special Officer at the Ph.D. Section, Examination Branch, University of Mysore.
He has participated in various academic conferences, workshops, and seminars. He has published several research articles and books on related topics such as microfinance, poverty alleviation programs, and rural credit cooperative societies. Dr. Shivachithappa has also shouldered several responsibilities at the University of Mysore and served as a member of the State Planning Board, Government of Karnataka, Bangalore.
Dr.Shivachitthappa has an extensive academic and research background in the field of economics. Some of his notable achievements include delivering a keynote address and a special lecture at international and national events, respectively, and visiting universities in Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. He has authored several economics-related books in Kannada, published by various publishers. He has also shouldered several responsibilities at the University of Mysore, including membership in academic bodies and serving as the chairman and member of the Board of Examiners at the postgraduate level. He has also worked as In-charge Director of the PG Centre at Mandya. His research has been recognized with awards from institutions such as Acharya Nagarjuna University, University of Ruhuna, and Lincoln University.
In addition to his research, Shivachitthappa has also been recognized for his teaching and guidance. He has received the Best Teacher Award from the International School of Business and Research, Bangalore, and the Jagajyothi Award for Teaching, Research, and Publications in Economics and Rural Development from Sri Vanakallu Malleshwara Mahasamsthana Sukshetra.
Shivachitthappa has also shown leadership in promoting academic research as a Coordinator in the Directorate of Research at the University of Mysore, for which he received an award from the Bangalore Educational Trust. He has also been recognized for his successful guidance of PhD research in economics and Gandhian studies at Tunku Abdul Rahman University, Malaysia, with an Outstanding Research Supervisor Award. Shivachitthappa has been awarded a D.Litt. in Economics from the International Economics University for SAARC countries, Maldives, in recognition of his commendable contribution to the field of economics.
Dr. Shivachitthappa has made significant contributions to the field of education as a Chairperson/Member of University Academic Bodies PG Level (BOE/BOS) for various universities. He has been instrumental in developing academic policies and programs that have helped shape the future of higher education in India
