Dr. Dayananda Naik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Mangalore University in Mangalagangothri, India. He has over 29 years of professional teaching experience and has guided several students in their research at the M. Phil and Ph.D. level Dr. Naik holds a degree in Political Science from Mangalore University and a Ph.D. in Dalit Movement in Dakshina Kannada and Mysore Districts –A Comparative Analysis from the same university. He has also completed a Post-Graduation Diploma in Human Rights from the Indian Institute of Human Rights in New Delhi. His research areas include Indian Constitution and Government, Political Sociology, Human Rights, and World Constitutions.
Dr. Naik has published several research articles and papers in national and international journals and has presented papers at various conferences. He has guided students in their research in areas such as Dalit Movements, Women Empowerment, Political Sociology, and Human Rights.
Dr. Dayanand Naik has actively participated in various seminars, workshops, and conferences related to political science, human rights, and social equality. He has attended several national and international seminars, including the international Semirar on “European Union in Transition, Economy, Politics, and Society” and the National Seminar on “Development Agenda and Human Rights: A Special Focus on Dakshina Kannada”.
Dr. Naik has presented papers on topics like Dalits’ discrimination, communalism, and the struggle for equal citizenship. He has delivered lectures on various topics such as the importance of youth Parliament, mental health, and career guidance. Additionally, he has been a coordinator for several events, including the National Youth Parliament Competition.
Dr. Dayanand Naik is a recipient of several awards and recognitions for dedication to his profession. He was awarded the Runner-up National Award at the Youth Parliament in 2006 and the Life Achievement National Award by Dr. Abdul Kalam. He was also conferred with the Rashtriya Gaurava Award at the National Seminar on Economic Growth and National Integration held in New Delhi in 2014. In addition, he was also awarded the Best NSS Programme Officer State Award.
Dr. Naik holds several memberships in professional bodies related to his field of expertise. He is a member of the Board of Studies (B. O. S) in Political Science at several prestigious institutions, including St. Agnes College, S. D. M. College, K. S. O. U. Mysore, Kannur University, and St. Aloysius College. He is also a member of the Board of Examiners (B.O. E.) in Indian Constitution at University College.
Apart from his academic pursuits, Dr. Naik is also involved in various social and philanthropic causes. He is a life member of the State Political Science Teachers’ Association in Bangalore, Karnataka, and the Mangalore University Political Science Teachers’ Association in Mangalore. He is also a life member of the National Federation for the Blind, New Delhi and the Indian Red Cross Society Mangalore.
Moreover, he is a life member of the Indian Political Science Association in Meerut and the National Book Trust, India (NBT) Book Club in Bangalore.
